After a longer period of silence, Matej is happy to announce some news regarding Phragments: "Firstly, a new release is on the way. It is a collaborative release (real collaboration, not a split) of Phragments with the Slovak project Korinth. The material on this release is very atmospheric / cinematic and combines the talents of both projects. It will be out probably in early February on the young and promising Italian label Greytone in a limited edition of 500 copies in digipack. So, be sure to watch out for Phragments & Korinth - Mysteries of the Greylands.
Secondly, I just have finished the recording of a compilation track entitled "The Followers". The track will appear on the compilation dealing with the theme of mental illnesses with each track representing a different illness. The Phragments track deals with the rare psychotic disease called folie imposée."
Folie imposée is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which a symptom of psychosis (particularly a paranoid or delusional belief) is "transmitted" from one individual to another. A dominant person (known as the 'primary', 'inducer' or 'principal') initially forms a delusional belief during a psychotic episode and imposes it on another person or persons (known as the 'secondary', 'acceptor' or 'associate') with the assumption that the secondary person might not have become deluded if left to his or her own devices. The Followers is a dark, minimalist and nihilistic sounding track with some very harsh vocals. The compilation will be released by Prosper In Darkness Productions (Norway) in cooperation with Greytone (Italy). It will feature a lot of talented artists, such as: VESTIGIAL, FOUNDATION HOPE, KAMMARHEIT, NORTHAUNT, SVARTSINN, Beyond Sensory Experience, ELEGI, AVSKY, TAPHEPHOBIA, NAGUAL ART, DAHLIA'S TEAR, METROM, J ORPHIC.
I am also working on new tracks for the upcoming album, which I plan to finish in 2010. It should be released again on Malignant Records. Although I am still quite far from the final shape of the album, I can tell you now that it's again going to be a little different from the last one and will feature a live cello, harsh vocals and some rhythms by Michal of Metrom. I am also planning some other guest appearances."
Phragments is a duo from Bratislava, Slovakia. The duo consists of Matej, responsible for the music and Sonic(k), who is responsible for the videos. The first full-length was released on our label Construct.Destroy.Collective, the second one on the Israeli label The Eastern Front, the third one is out now on the US label Malignant Records. Their music is best described as a mix of dark orchestral power with industrial machinery. Music is emotionally heavy and thought provoking. Listeners have labelled it as industrial, martial industrial, dark ambient.
